The magical thing about The Wolds Retreat is that you are able to access all the facilities of Kilnwick Percy Hall and Madhyamaka Kadampa Meditation Centre – enjoying a historic building set within nearly 50 acres of grounds, parkland and woodlands, as well as optional meditation classes for beginners and a cute World Peace Cafe serving vegetarian meals, coffees and cakes.

This historic Grade II* listed building is a treat for all who visit. You can relax in the Georgian Sitting Room and dine in the stunning dining room, as well as take in the views from the surrounding countryside and south-facing lawns.

Madhyamaka KMCMadhyamaka Kadampa Meditation Centre
The Wolds Retreat is set within the grounds of Madhyamaka KMC – a meditation centre established to bring peace and tranquility to the lives of modern busy people.
This means that during your stay you can access free drop-in meditation classes for beginners, pick up a book on Buddhism or meditation from the library, or browse the Gift Shop’s selection of meditation CDs.
This ensures you can learn how to develop a peaceful mind, which means you are able to take this back home with you too!

Gift ShopWorld Peace Cafe
Set within a former blacksmith’s workshop, this cute cafe – with it’s snug woodburning stove – is a great place to relax and snuggle up with a good book. The cafe serves vegetarian soup & roll, paninis and yummy cakes, as well as a selection of coffees. Be sure to sample the delicious cheesecakes 🙂

Gift Shop
Visit the gift shop for gifts, snacks and toiletries. Also available are a wide range of books and CDs on Buddhism and meditation, as well as Buddhist artwork, children’s books and toys.

Explore the woodlandsGrounds, Woodland & Lake
The Wolds Retreat is set within nearly 50 acres of stunning grounds. With its peaceful environment, this is a perfect location to relax and explore the woodlands, wander around the lake or picnic on one of the lawns.

Walking & Cycling Holidays
Situated directly on the Wolds Way and Way of the Roses, as well as passing very closely to Minster Way between York and Beverley Minsters, The Wolds Retreat is frequented by walkers and cyclists and is the ideal pit-stop for your journey. It is also a good base from which you can explore the Yorkshire Wolds.

With free parking and the option of additional meals, this is a great countryside getaway that’s easily accessible and ideal to take a few days break.
To maintain peace and tranquility, no TV, alcohol, smoking or meat onsite.

All accommodation is clean and modern with central heating fitted as standard. Ensuites are provided with tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
